In July 2014, the Fair Labour Association (FLA) published “Roles of Women in Nestle’s Supply Chain in the Ivory Coast”. Nestle committed to a pilot a methodology to develop and promote local women’s associations. The first GALS workshop was held in Zaranou in August 2015 with Fair Labour Association.

The GALS process in Kyrgyzstan was introduced in 2016 funded by IFAD and implemented by CDA and UNWomen as part of the Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme of IFAD, UNWomen, FAO and World Food Programme. In 2024 USAID funded Empowerment Against Violence methodology with Kyrgyzstan Association of Women Judges.
