Business Action Learning for Innovation (BALI)

Many PALS processes since 2002 have included livelihood development tools to help people identify innovations, analyse market opportunities and constraints and plan businesses. Often this has included gender issues at household and enterprise levels, linking to more in depth GALS gender processes and/or value chain. See in particular Bukonzo Joint in Uganda, Vuasu in Tanzania, and Jamghoria Sevabrata in India.

These earlier tools together and refined them as a coherent and updated methodology called ‘BALI’ as part of IFAD’s RWEE programme in Kyrgyzstan.
